Dr Michael Goodman
Meet Dr Michael, our dentist with a special interest in gum disease, or periodontal disease, here at Wonder of Wellness.
Gum disease is associated with so many other issues in the body, and for Michael, seeing the real, positive change that improving someone's oral health can have on their general wellbeing brings great satisfaction. Many of his patients are referred to him from around the country, often having been told by multiple dentists that their teeth can't be saved and need to be replaced with dentures or implants. With careful work, Michael is frequently able to save those teeth - and the joy on his patients' faces at keeping their natural way of eating, speaking, and smiling is a definite perk of the job.
In this video, Michael shares what heart-led care means to him: putting the patient first, forming an open and honest relationship quickly, and tailoring every treatment package to a patient's individual needs and wishes. He wants patients to feel free to talk openly, without embarrassment, about their health and their gum health.
Michael also shares what drew him to Wonder of Wellness - Seb's character, the warmth of the team, the location, and the high-tech equipment - and what patients can expect when they meet him. A first consultation lasts around 90 minutes, beginning with a conversation about general health concerns and how they relate to oral and gum health, followed by specific questions, a detailed examination, and a tailored treatment plan built as a working team.
Outside of work, Michael is all about the outdoors and nature. He lives in the Peak District, enjoys long walks with his dog, and finds calm and relaxation in his garden growing vegetables and flowers.
